Our Christmas concert Carols and Christmas Music for Choir and Audience is, as always, a wonderful mix of seasonal music, previously described by an audience member as ‘a delightful entertaining Christmas evening’. There are a number of well-known favourite carols, some of which the audience are invited to join in singing, along with others that have a new, or less well-known setting, including ‘While Shepherds Watched’ and ‘The Holly and the Ivy’. Other pieces such as Fletcher’s ‘Ring Out Wild Bells’, our conductor Kenneth Roberts’ ‘Lullaby’, or choir member John Odell’s ‘Welcome Yole’ may be less well-known but have great appeal.
The concert also features a range of other seasonal music including ‘Christmas Island’ and ‘Christmas Alphabet’. These have very entertaining arrangements by the choir’s music director and conductor Kenneth Roberts for the Cinque Ports Brass Ensemble, which accompanies the concert along with Nigel Howard on piano and keyboard. Kenneth Roberts usually cannot resist playing saxophone as well! Soprano soloist Louisa Alice-Rose joins the choir as soloist in some of the choral pieces, as well as performing solo items such as the beautiful ‘O Holy Night’, adding another flavour to the feast.
Tickets are £14 in advance and £16 on the door (£12 for Friends of Bexhill Choral Society), available in advance from Second Spin in Sackville Road, choir members, or from Ticketsource - ticketsource.co.uk/bcs or phone 0333 666 3366.
Come along and enjoy a wonderful evening of music to put you in the right mood for the Christmas season!

We will be starting work on Mozart’s ever-popular Requiem, and his alleged rival Salieri’s Mass in D - a rarely heard work which deserves to be better known. This would be an excellent time to join the choir if you’re thinking of giving choral music a go, or know anyone else who might be interested!

Bexhill Choral Society is a friendly non-audition choir singing a wide range of choral music. We usually perform 3 concerts each year and rehearse on Wednesday evenings with our renowned Director of Music Kenneth Roberts. We put on social events as well as concerts and we warmly welcome new members. Singing in a choir is fun AND is good for you!
But if you're a listener rather than a singer please do come to our concerts and consider joining our Friends - Friends of Bexhill Choral Society pay an annual membership subscription of £25.00 which entitles them to a discount of £2 on the price of two tickets for each concert, and are kept informed of other events – if you are interested in joining, phone 01424 222801, or come along to a concert and join on the door to get your discount!
