Our popular concert features a varied feast of Christmas music, including well-known and much-loved traditional carols and Christmas songs, some of which the audience are invited to join in singing. Other carols may be less well-known but have great appeal, and the seasonal music includes popular items such as ‘Let it Snow’, ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘Caribbean Christmas’. These have very entertaining arrangements by the choir’s music director and conductor Kenneth Roberts for the Cinque Ports Brass Ensemble, which accompanies the concert along with Nigel Howard on piano and keyboard. Kenneth Roberts usually cannot resist playing saxophone as well! Soprano Helen Bailey joins the choir as soloist in some of the choral pieces, as well as performing solo items such as Handel’s joyful ‘Rejoice, Rejoice’ (Messiah), adding another flavour to the musical feast.
